Teen Dating

Healthy Relationships

Teen dating should feel safe, respectful, and supportive. But not all relationships are healthy, and it can be hard to recognize when something isn’t right.

Hotline supports teens, parents, and caregivers with information, guidance, and confidential help related to teen dating violence and healthy relationships.

What a Healthy Relationship Looks Like

Healthy relationships are built on:

  • Respect and trust
  • Open communication
  • Clear boundaries
  • Support for friendships and independence

No one should feel pressured, controlled, or afraid in a relationship.

Warning Signs of Dating Abuse

Dating abuse can be emotional, verbal, physical, or digital. Warning signs may include:

  • Jealousy or constant monitoring
  • Pressure to share passwords or private images
  • Insults, threats, or intimidation
  • Isolation from friends or family
  • Any form of physical harm

If something feels wrong, it matters.

Digital Dating Abuse

Abuse can happen online through excessive texting, tracking, or misuse of social media. Harmful behavior online is still abuse.
